Introduction

For nearly five decades, Flexura Floors NV, based in Waregem, has been a leading name in premium Belgian veneer manufacturing. Sourcing sustainable European oak, they design and manufacture high-end veneer parquet, wall cladding, and furniture panels for architects and professional B2B clients worldwide.

While Flexura had already adopted Odoo for their CRM and accounting, their physical production shop floor and complex logistics still operated outside the system. This lack of integration limited real-time visibility into active production progress, led to discrepancies between Excel-based inventory and physical reality, and caused quoting bottlenecks for the sales team.

Flexura partnered with flipside to fully unlock Odoo’s potential, optimize their logistics chain, and execute a flawless transition toward a hybrid Make-to-Stock (MTS) and Make-to-Order (MTO) manufacturing model.

The challenge: shifting towards complete visibility

Before partnering with flipside, Flexura operated on a Make-to-Order basis, generating unnecessary lead times for their most popular, standardized products.

What we delivered: a fully integrated factory

Over a highly collaborative 12-week implementation, flipside optimized Flexura’s data foundation and extended Odoo into a fully connected ERP powerhouse - without the need for heavy, hard-to-maintain custom modules.

1. Robust data foundation & advanced inventory tracking

  • Product restructuring: successfully configured roughly 1000 product variants across 40 product categories, standardizing unit conversions (m² vs planks).
  • Traceability with lot tracking and barcodes: we’ve set up Odoo Inventory with strict lot tracking. We delivered and configured rugged Zebra mobile computers and scanners, enabling operators to seamlessly manage stock moves, scan lot numbers, and generate product labels using the Odoo Barcode app.
  • Smart stock monetization: successfully set up a flow to track and quote "2nd choice" products, ensuring lower-grade materials are no longer lost in the system but successfully sold to interested buyers.

2. Manufacturing (MRP), connected Shop Floor & digitized quality

  • Work centers and Bill of Materials (BoM) setup: production progress became visible in real time, giving the production manager complete visibility into every order moving through the factory.
  • Odoo Shopfloor deployment: eliminated paperwork by deploying a real-time interface for production operators, giving them an instant view of active or planned work orders.
  • Paperless quality checks: replaced manual paper logs with the Odoo Quality module. Operators now perform digital quality checks at critical machines, tracking precise panel dimensions and lacquering thickness for perfect compliance and traceability.

3. Intelligent MTS / MTO sourcing & strategic customizations

  • Smart replenishment rules: programmed automated safety stock signals. Flexura’s highest-demand standardized products (like their bestselling flooring planks) are now automatically replenished via Make-to-Stock (MTS), while custom architectural creations run smoothly on Make-to-Order (MTO) routings.
  • Airtight FSC Certification tracking: developed targeted, lightweight Odoo customizations to seamlessly track and flag FSC-certified products, providing instant, auditable proof that raw materials originate from responsibly managed forests.
